Welcome to the 2011 event line up...

Hello everyone, we're back again in 2012 to bring you more contests and special events. Mom always said if it isn't broke, then don't fix it so we're keeping the same format again this year.

Like last year, the rules are posted on the site under the "Contests" menu item for each respective event and the rules didn't change. We are going to continue with the miniVENT showings as AMV contest intermissions. The core difference is that we will be allowing short films back into the contests. Short films are going to be restricted, by event, to their maximum time slot. That means for our verteran Masters out there, you have free reign on the timing - so use it wisely. Once of the core judging criteria for short films will be "effective use of time". For those of you who are just getting started, want to try something different or just enjoy casual competition, the Standard contest is limited to 7 minutes which is a small reduction from the Fanworks limits we used a couple of years ago. To keep the competion scope reasonable, miniVENT submissions will be judged during the contest viewing but seperately from dissimilar content.

We're still working out some of the details on the site piece so we might not see much in the way of new content before this year's show, but I do have code for new enhancements and as soon as I can get the new templates, we'll be in business. So, if I get them before April, we'll have new content.

Honorable mentions are given based on nominations submitted by the judges/staff and do not represent scoring placement in their respective contests.

Welcome to the 2011 event line up...

Hello everyone, we're back again in 2011 to bring you more contests and special events. The good news is that things won't be changing much from last year, so many of you should be pretty familiar with how it all works. Last year we tried some new things and, based on feedback, it looks like they worked out well. Given that, we figured you shouldn't fix something that's not broken, so we're going to do it again this year.

Before anyone asks, there will be no major site functionality updates this year. The reason for this is that we just got some new technical talent on board and they're working on the core website and doing some template building for the rest of us. So, until I get a copy of the template and new guidelines they want us to use for the site, I'm holding off on releasing any new code so I don't have to spend my free time re-coding features. So, next year we'll probably see some fun stuff, but for now, we're just chillin'.
